Hi!
I'm a french studient in graphic design. First of all, I'm sorry: my english is not very good. :)
This year is the year of the diploma in graphic design so I have the idea to begin an Ougrapo;
doing researches I realized that Ougrapo exists.
I contact you for two reasons:

the first: can I talk about your ougrapo in my diploma?

Yes, absolutely!

second: I have some questions about your work:
          - How do you consider the constraint?
          - As a matter? A tool?

We always considered the constraint as a tool. Our slogan is: rules are tools.
Did you read our manifesto? There is some moe information at ougrapo in facebook. But it is mostly in german...

          - Do you think that to use constraint is a way to create more?

Yes. The constraint made us create things we wouldn't have done without the constraint.
It gets us to work. It sets up the space for creative play and production.

          - How do you define your productions?

The products of ougrapo can be nearly everything. We work in the domain of graphic design but also with food or clothes.
The products can be comissioned jobs or self initiated.
Often I use a ougrapo process to start a project and then finish it in a more conventional way.

          - Are they researches? Finals? Answer of some order?

So it can act as research or as finals. Our newest project is the Ougrapo Picture Wordshop. This is a workshop we give to people who are interested in creative process without being a designer. We gave the workshop also to children and to students.

          - The meaning is it major/important in your productions or not? Why?

First, the meaning IS the doing. The constraints we choose are mostly formal constraints. So we usually start with a formal idea. Not with a specific topic. Then, later, the meaning gets important. We analyse why a certain theme or meaning came up. Especially in the Picture Wordshop with other people, we talk about the meaning that is produced.

If it interests you, I can explain my demarche.

Yes. We are very interested. If you prefer, you write in French. I'm able to read it. Just the writing is a little hard for me, that is why I write in englisch to you.
We are also interested where you study?
And how you found out about Ougrapo. Did you do an internet search and found our website?

Our website is open to contributions. So please let us know, when you have some work to show or ideas to share.

I hope you understand my e-mail^^.
certainly;)

Thank you.
